Foundations Debate CX - Policy
The Policy
debate side of the Foundation Debate Institute focuses on personal attention for
all who take part. The teaching style balances mini- debating and finding and
using evidence. There is also lecture
series teaches students to adapt to any type of judging they might encounter.
The Institute is a hands on learning experience, the
debaters in the program are trained to see both sides of issues they face in
debate. Students that attend are taught
about debate in a holistic way, covering everything from disadvantage debating
to Kritiks. They are expected to learn to read and
think critically about topics they may have never seen before. They also learn
to use the resources of the traditional library and the internet to find and
cultivate winning debate positions. Students also are introduced to the concept
of the “professional debater”, meaning that they learn how to prepare for
debate and life as a whole.
